Tom McCalmont

Tom McCalmont is CEO and cofounder of McCalmont Engineering and Paired Power. He has over 25 years of solar, storage, and EV charging experience. Prior to that, Tom was CEO and cofounder of Regrid Power, one of California’s earliest and most successful solar installation companies.
Tom has a demonstrated track record of creatively applying new technology to solving real world customer problems. He earned his MS degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and both Sc.D. and BS degrees from Muskingum University. Tom holds 18 U.S. patents and is a licensed Professional Engineer, a charter NABCEP-certified Solar PV Installer, and an EVITP-certified licensed electrical/solar contractor in California.

Maxym Makhota is Chief Technology Officer of McCalmont Engineering and Paired Power, McCalmont Engineering’s EV charging software and design subsidiary. He oversees software and hardware architecture and engineering, data visualization, machine learning, and product roadmap. An expert in systems design and architecture, data acquisition and analysis, cross-platform development, industrial IoT, and security and certification, Maxym was previously a cofounder and VP of Software Engineering at Tigo Energy (NASDAQ: TYGO), where over 15 years he helped grow the company from a startup into a respected worldwide manufacturer of solar module electronics.
He earned an MS degree in Computer Science from the National University of Ukraine. Maxym holds 10 U.S. patents.

Aaron McCalmont is Vice President of Engineering at McCalmont Engineering. He has over 20 years of experience in solar, storage, and EV charging, and leads the team that designs and delivers utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects throughout the U.S. and is skilled in efficiently developing construction plans for large-scale systems focused on lowest cost, maximum safety, and on-time delivery. Aaron joined McCalmont Engineering in 2012 as an Energy Systems Engineer, and his project management and engineering expertise has contributed to hundreds of megawatts of completed PV projects, including utility-scale designs as large as 800 MW. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior project manager for two concentrating PV companies and held several key positions at Regrid Power.
He earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University and an MBA from San Jose State University. Aaron is an experienced Professional Engineer licensed in over 40 U.S. states, a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional, and holds 3 U.S. patents.

Director of Contracts & Client Relations
Travonna Carter is Director of Contracts & Client Relations for McCalmont Engineering. She brings more than 20 years of legal operations, contract administration, and compliance experience, and oversees the review, redlining, and negotiation of customer contracts, MSAs, PSAs, NDAs, and related terms. Travonna joined the company in January 2026 to lead contract strategy, client partnership management, and financial compliance. Before McCalmont Engineering, she spent two decades in civil litigation, construction-defect matters, and corporate legal operations, including a senior legal management role at Solidigm (SK Hynix NAND Product Solutions Corp).
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from San Jose State University and is currently completing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Phoenix.

Sandy Fan

Sandy Fan is Director of Operations for McCalmont Engineering’s Commercial & Industrial Division. She has over 20 years of experience managing complex project operations for engineering businesses, and oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of the C&I portfolio—including bid management, project management, resource optimization, customer coordination, and quality control. Sandy joined McCalmont Engineering in 2019 as a Project Manager. Prior to that, she spent nearly two decades at AAE Systems, where she rose from technical lead roles to Project Support Manager.
She holds an MS degree in Management Information Systems from California State University, Hayward, and a BS degree in Management Information Systems from Washington State University.

Nick Lovgren

Nick Lovgren is Director of Engineering for McCalmont Engineering’s Commercial & Industrial Division. An experienced building systems engineer with years of expertise in solar PV, battery energy storage, and microgrid systems, he oversees the electrical designs for all of McCalmont’s C&I projects, which range from tens of kilowatts to tens of megawatts. Nick joined the company in 2020 and brings a technical and creative approach that helps clients solve their toughest projects. Prior to McCalmont Engineering, he held senior electrical engineering roles at Dersch Design & Engineering and CRB Group, working across solar PV, microgrid, commercial, and Department of Defense projects.
He earned BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Nick is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and a LEED Accredited Professional.
Jeferson Nagel

Jeferson Nagel
Director of Engineering, Utility
Jeferson Nagel is Director of Engineering for McCalmont Engineering’s Utility Division. He has over 16 years of experience as an electrical engineer specializing in renewable energy, with a broad background in industrial and commercial installations. Jeferson joined McCalmont Engineering in 2020 as a Senior Energy Systems Engineer focused on utility-scale solar farms and BESS plants, and today leads a team of engineers and designers responsible for high-quality designs including Load Flow, Ampacity, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, and Lightning Protection studies. Before McCalmont, he was a Lead Electrical Engineer at Glumac and worked for EPCs in California and Germany, contributing to several solar and wind utility-scale projects. He uses his specialized knowledge creatively and innovatively to solve complex problems and deliver high-quality designs.
He earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Technische Universität München in Munich, Germany. Jeferson is a licensed Professional Engineer in California.

Clare Pineda

Clare Pineda is Director of Operations for McCalmont Engineering’s Utility Division. She has over 11 years of experience managing complex project operations for engineering and electrical businesses, and coordinates all aspects of project scope and delivery, including project and resource scheduling, customer coordination, and quality control. Clare joined McCalmont Engineering in 2021 as a Project Coordinator in the Commercial & Industrial Division before transitioning to the Utility Division in 2023. Prior to McCalmont, she served as a Project Manager for Contractors Electrical Distribution and WESCO.
She holds a BA degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Certificate in Project Management from UC Berkeley Extension.
